How to prepare for it out loud
Reading about why this school and this program and being asked about it are different skills. In the room you have to commit to an opening line, hold a line of thought while the interviewer probes, and keep talking sense under time. The fastest way to build that is repetition — being questioned on the topic often enough that the shape of a good answer becomes automatic.
- Lead with a frame. Open with the structure you'll use before the detail — it tells the interviewer you know where the answer is going, and it stops you drifting.
- Answer the question asked. A short answer that squarely lands the point is a good answer — the interviewer can always prompt for more. Padding is what gets marked down, not brevity.
- Practise the follow-ups. Marks are won and lost where the interviewer probes past your first answer. A practice station that keeps probing is worth more than re-reading the chapter.
